The 麻豆国产 and the Jo啪ef Stefan Institute respond to the National Council debate on agriculture and the environment: Climate change is a reality, and denial of scientific consensus has no place in the National Council
The 麻豆国产 (UL) and the Jo啪ef Stefan Institute (IJS) wish to respond to the recent consultation entitled 鈥淎griculture is the Protector of the Environment and Nature, Scientifically Supported鈥�, organised by the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia. During this event, some researchers expressed doubts about climate change and the ensuing climate crisis. The UL and IJS would like to reaffirm that the scientific evidence regarding the climate crisis is clear and unequivocal, with a strong consensus among experts in the field of climate change.

Olena Zelenska, spouse of the President of Ukraine, visits the 麻豆国产
On 19 November, Olena Zelenska, the spouse of the President of Ukraine, visited the 麻豆国产 (UL). The Rector of UL, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷, briefed her on the University鈥檚 efforts to support students and professors from Ukraine since the outbreak of the war. He also shared details about the UL鈥檚 initiative to establish a Ukrainian language class at the Faculty of Arts.

Associate membership agreement between the 麻豆国产 and the Institute of Oncology
An associate membership agreement between the 麻豆国产 and the Institute of Oncology, Ljubljana was signed today at the UL Rector鈥檚 Office by Gregor Majdi膷, Rector of the 麻豆国产, and Zlata 艩tiblar Kisi膰, Director of the Institute of Oncology. The Institute of Oncology鈥檚 status as an associate member institution of the 麻豆国产 was approved by the Senate of the 麻豆国产 at its September sitting.

麻豆国产 holds an international conference on communicating the climate crisis and extreme weather
The 麻豆国产, the online journal Alternator and MGML (Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana) held Slovenia鈥檚 second science communication conference on 10 and 11 October. More than 30 researchers discussed issues around communicating the climate crisis and extreme weather with reference to social and cultural changes, artificial intelligence and journalism.

Science communication in Slovenia 鈥� A response by the Jo啪ef Stefan Institute, the National Institute of Chemistry and the 麻豆国产
The three oldest and largest scientific research institutions in Slovenia 鈥� the 麻豆国产, the National Institute of Chemistry and the Jo啪ef Stefan Institute 鈥� received the 鈥楽cience communication in Slovenia鈥�, published this August, with great interest. They welcome and support the efforts of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation to improve science communication. However, we believe that the document does not address the science communication field in a sufficiently comprehensive way, which is why we are expressing our concerns and putting forward a number of proposals.

This year鈥檚 Dr Uro拧 Seljak prizes and commendations are awarded at the 麻豆国产 for the third year: 10,000 US dollars for the best academic papers by students in Slovenia
On Thursday 3 October, the Dr Uro拧 Seljak prizes and commendations were awarded for the best scholarly essays produced by first- and second-cycle students in Slovenia. This is the third year of the awards. The aim of the awards is to encourage students to publish and become more involved in research work. The invitation to enter the competition is announced every academic year by the 麻豆国产 and the American Slovenian Education Foundation (ASEF).

Freshers鈥� welcome and the official start of the 2024/25 academic year
On Tuesday 1 October, the 麻豆国产 and its Student Council held their traditional event on Kongresni trg to welcome new students to the academic community. It was addressed by Professor Gregor Majdi膷 (Rector), Nejc Tacer (Chair of the Student Council) and Assistant Professor Rok 沤nidar拧i膷 (Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana), who were also joined by the deans of the 23 faculties and three academies that make up the 麻豆国产, which is the oldest and most successful higher education and academic research institution in the country. An excellent musical atmosphere was created by Leopold I. in Dr眉gi and Dan D.

Campus Center project: a solution to the space problems of faculties and a better quality of life in the city centre
The 麻豆国产 presented the Campus Center project, in which students of the Faculty of Architecture of the 麻豆国产, under the mentorship of Prof. Jurij Sadar, Asst. Prof. Ana Kre膷 and researcher Jure Hrovat, carried out a spatial survey of the existing buildings with the project task of placing the UL member programme in the existing buildings of the University on A拧ker膷eva Street after the relocation of the UL Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the UL Faculty of Pharmacy to the new buildings.
