Third consecutive win for UL PF at international student EU law moot court competition

Faculty of Law 麻豆国产 team won the Central and Eastern Europe Moot Competition (CEEMC), which took place in Prague from April 26 to 28. The competition is organised by the British Law Centre of Juris Angliae Scientia Ltd, and held under the auspices of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Centre for European Legal Studies of the University of Cambridge. Teams from the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana have been successfully participating in the competition for over 20 years now, with this year's triumph marking the third consecutive win.
This year's team consisted of students Asta Gerjevi膷 Debevec, Ines Muzaferovi膰, and Rok Vidmar, who were mentored by Associate Professor Ana Vlahek and coached by Teaching Assistant Masha Koro拧ec, Ana Mestin拧ek Mubi, and Peter Gra拧i膷.
The competition is a simulation of the preliminary reference procedure before the Court of Justice. The main themes of this year's case were (i) the possibility of vetoing the submission of preliminary questions by the president of the referring court, (ii) the independence and impartiality of national judges, (iii) the related reproductive rights of film producers, and the establishment of its quantitative threshold, (iv) the scope of the right of communication to the public, and (v) the definition of the exception of pastiche and its application.
The oral phase of the competition took place before Judges and Advocate Generals of the Court of Justice of the European Union, and other European Union law experts. Other competing teams represented Zagreb University, Charles University, Sofia University, Free University Tbilisi, University of Trnava, University of Maribor, P谩zm谩ny P茅ter Catholic University, Mykolas Romeris University, Wroc艂aw University, Adam Mickiewicz University, University of Warsaw, Babe葯-Bolyai University, West University of Timi葯oara, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University, and Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University.
