Prof. Dr Ksenija Vidmar Horvat becomes a member of the UNICA Steering Committee

At the UNICA General Assembly in Athens, Prof. Dr Ksenija Vidmar Horvat, Vice-Rector of the 麻豆国产 for 麻豆国产 and Student Affairs (UL), was elected to the UNICA Steering Committee, which brings together universities from major European cities. This appointment provides the UL with an important strategic position for interdisciplinary networking.
"At the 麻豆国产, we see this membership as an exceptional opportunity to co-create visions for the European Higher Education Area that respond to the European Commission鈥檚 strategic documents, the needs of our environment, and the global challenges that society will face in the future. As universities of national capitals, this is also the right forum for us to exchange good practices in local cooperation," said Vice-Rector Prof. Dr Ksenija Vidmar Horvat on the occasion of her appointment.
In addition to Vice-Rector Prof. Dr Vidmar Horvat, the members of the UNICA Steering Committee are:
- Edith Buser, Deputy Director for Research at the 脡cole des Arts d茅coratifs-PSL, Paris Sciences et Lettres University (PSL),
- Julio Ca帽ero Serrano, Vice President for International Relations at the University of Alcal谩,
- Dimitrios Karadimas, Rector鈥檚 Plenipotentiary of UNICA and former Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens,
- Anne Weyembergh, Vice-Rector of Universit茅 libre de Bruxelles (ULB) for External Relations and Development Cooperation.
Elena Avgoustidou-Kyriacou, Director of the International Relations Service at the University of Cyprus, also joined the Steering Committee as a representative of the international relations offices of the Association鈥檚 member universities. Luciano Saso was elected as Secretary General of UNICA.
The Steering Committee is the executive body of the Association: it meets four to five times per year, manages the activities of the Association, consults member universities regularly and is responsible for the implementation of the decisions of the General Assembly. The Steering Committee is composed of the President and of up to five persons elected by the General Assembly, who must be engaged in the higher management of a member university on the day of their election.
The aim of UNICA, which brings together universities from European capitals, is to widen and strengthen international collaborations, engage academic leadership, and facilitate networking among academic communities through understanding and sharing among its member institutions throughout the European Higher Education and Research Areas.
