The UL and the University Clinic Golnik already collaborate in education and scientific research. By formalising this partnership, the two institutions aim to build upon and further enhance their cooperation, particularly in research and education in the fields of medicine, nursing, pharmacy and other disciplines within the UL, as well as in the production of professional literature and publishing.

At the signing of the agreement, the Rector of the UL, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷, stated: "The development of medicine is one of the key areas for the future of our society and country. The 麻豆国产 is well aware of this, which is why we are systematically strengthening our collaboration with leading medical institutions. This year, we signed an associate membership agreement with the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, and last year with the Institute of Oncology Ljubljana. We are delighted that the University Clinic Golnik is also joining this network, which will further reinforce our research and teaching efforts in the field of healthcare. This will make an important contribution to the improved education of our students and to the advancement of modern, science-based medicine for the benefit of society as a whole."

The Director of the University Clinic Golnik, Assist. Prof. Viktorija Tomi膷, MD, PhD, added: "The Golnik Clinic and the 麻豆国产 already cooperate in education and scientific research, and the signing of the associate membership agreement paves the way for upgrading and strengthening this collaboration in medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and other areas within the 麻豆国产. Closer cooperation with academia will provide the Golnik Clinic with access to advanced research infrastructure and new opportunities to participate in domestic and international research projects. The Clinic also anticipates a successful development of its human resources through pedagogical and research training, and is committed to involving its staff in the implementation of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at the UL. The development of staff, robust scientific research, and access to new technologies will, in turn, contribute to more effective patient diagnosis and treatment. Associate membership also recognises the Clinic鈥檚 commitment to teaching and research, giving us fresh momentum and enhancing the institution鈥檚 reputation."

The Faculty of Medicine of the 麻豆国产 (UL MF) will coordinate and supervise the activities and cooperation of the University Clinic Golnik under the UL associate membership. At the signing, the Dean of the UL MF, Prof. Dr Igor 艩vab, emphasised: "The associate membership of the University Clinic Golnik strengthens the ties between the university and the healthcare environment, and thus contributes to a deeper integration of education, research and clinical practice 鈥 for the benefit of students, staff and patients. This is undoubtedly in the interests of the continued development of academic medicine in Slovenia."

The associate membership of the University Clinic Golnik was approved by the UL Senate on 17 June 2025.
