About the programme
Conservation and restoration is a specific activity that deals with the preservation, study, care and maintenance of cultural and natural heritage.
A large part of our cultural heritage is represented by works of art – works of sculpture and painting of various techniques, qualities and dimensions. Professionally, we classify them into paintings on canvas, paintings on wood, paintings on other supports, wall paintings, mosaics, wood (polychrome) sculpture, stone (polychrome) sculpture and more demanding decorative art works. All these works of art are an indispensable part of our cultural wealth and the material foundations of national independence. Only constant care will allow us to leave them professionally maintained and preserved to our descendants.
The study programme consists of professional conservation and restoration work, research work and artistic painting and sculpture creation. The curriculum is designed in such a way that the student gradually acquires professional knowledge. In the first years, art and natural science subjects dominate, while in the higher years there are professional subjects that round off the entire conservation and restoration programme. Studies are also complemented by practical training in institutions.
