About the programme
Graduates of the first cycle, combined course study programme are broadminded and know the basics of social-scientific theories as well as theories of culture.
In addition, the competences they develop during their studies include: knowledge of the history and development of sociological thought and contemporary social science theories; knowledge of quantitative and qualitative sociological and cultural studies methodology; coherent application of sociological knowledge and basic sociological concepts in practice; independent understanding and placement of new social and cultural phenomena within the existing theoretical and problematic frameworks of sociology; solving professional and work-related problems by searching for sources of knowledge and applying scientific methods; knowledge of methods, used for testing scientific theories; understanding of the processes of globalisation and the relationships between the global and the local; knowledge of several specific disciplinary areas of sociology and sociology of culture; knowledge of the sociological assumptions of the humanities and of the integration of sociology and the humanities; a sense of the cultural diversity of human society; and the ability to adapt conceptual apparatuses to specific social and cultural settings.
