The project deals with the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union in anthropological perspective. It aims to introduce, contextualise and discuss the fundamental rights enshrined in Charter鈥檚 chapters on dignity, freedoms, equality, solidarity, citizens' rights and justice as well as explore specific human rights violations in concrete socio-political contexts. The project starts from the observation that the legal acts of the EU are generally less well known among the public compared to the international human rights documents of the United Nations and the Council of Europe. Concurrently, the project starts from the standpoint that human rights cannot be taken for granted.
