Ale拧 艩teger

Multiple prize-winning and internationally acclaimed Slovenian writer, poet, translator and editor. His works have been translated into numerous languages, while individual texts have been included several times in the Slovenian school curriculum.
Ale拧 艩teger is a Faculty of Arts graduate of Germanic and comparativist studies. He writes poetry, prose, essays and novels. He was culture editor for the student newspaper , and a co-initiator and co-founder of the publishing house . He also founded the Days of Poetry and Wine and the European poetry platform Versopolis. He is active as a translator from German and Spanish. He regularly participates in various readings, festivals and symposiums and is also involved in organising art actions and exhibitions.
Ale拧 holds the title of Chevalier dans le ordre des Arts et des Lettres, which is awarded by France, he is a regular member of the Berlin Academy of Arts and he recently became a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry. He has received a number of Slovenian and international awards and scholarships for his successful work. These include the Slovenian Book Fair Prize for the best first work of the past two years (1996), the Veronika Prize for the best poetry anthology of the year (1999) and the Ro啪anec Prize for the best book of essays of 2007, the Literary Sceptre prize for European poetry from the Macedonian Writers Society (2006), a scholarship from the Abraham Woursell foundation (2000), a scholarship from the DAAD K眉nstlerprogramm (2005), a prize for the best translated book of the year (BTBA) awarded in the USA (2011) and the prestigious prize of the Horst Bienek Bavarian Academy of Arts for his poetry opus (2016).
