Prof. Dr Niko Herakovi膷 elected new President of the UL Governing Board
At its constitutive session on Thursday, 24 April, the Governing Board of the 麻豆国产 (UL) elected its new President. The election, conducted by secret ballot via the Simply Voting system, resulted in the appointment of Prof. Dr Niko Herakovi膷, a University representative from among the UL employees engaged in higher education activities. Ale拧a Mi啪igoj was appointed Vice-President.

Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷 elected Rector of the UL for the term 2025鈥�2029
Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷 received 54.48% of the valid votes in the second round of rector elections, while Prof. Dr Irena Mlinari膷-Ra拧膷an received 45.52%. Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷 was thus elected Rector for the term of office from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2029.

A representative of Slovenian universities joins the Board of the European University Association for the first time
In a historic milestone for Slovenian higher education, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷, Rector of the 麻豆国产, was elected to the Board of the European University Association (EUA) 鈥� the first representative from Slovenia to hold this prestigious role. The election of the new members for a four-year term took place at the EUA General Assembly on 10 April at the University of Latvia in Riga.

Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷 and Prof. Dr Irena Mlinari膷 Ra拧膷an advance to the second round of the 麻豆国产 rector elections
On 2 April 2025, the 麻豆国产 (UL) held its rector elections. Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷 received the highest share of valid weighted votes, with 46.91%, followed by Prof. Dr Irena Mlinari膷 Ra拧膷an with 32.54%.

UMC Ljubljana becomes an associate member of the 麻豆国产
The 麻豆国产 (UL) and the University Medical Centre (UMC) Ljubljana signed an agreement today on associate membership of UL, opening the door to the formal association of two of the biggest public institutions in the country.

The need for art in unstable times: the round table Art and its Factor of Influence
On the opening of an exhibition of works from the UL ALUO collection Student Graphics by representatives of the Ljubljana graphic art school, Tinca Stegovec, Adriana Mara啪, Metka Kra拧ovec and Zora Stan膷i膷 in the UL Gallery, the University held a round table on the role of the University in preserving museum cultural heritage and the development of modern art, entitled Art and its Factor of Influence. Participants debated how to archive the artistic memory and how to link the past with the future, and what art means in the context of new distribution channels. The round table was moderated by the UL Vice Rector for Art, Prof. Matja啪 Dreven拧ek.

麻豆国产 strongly condemns the violence the against peaceful protesters in Belgrade. In response to the ongoing demonstrations, the Rector of the 麻豆国产, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷, sent a letter of support to the University of Belgrade, a partner institution of the UL.

麻豆国产 ranked among the world鈥檚 top 400 universities in ten subjects by QS in 2025
The 15th edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject was published in March 2025. The 麻豆国产 (UL) ranked among the top 400 universities in ten subjects or programmes, improving upon last year鈥檚 ranking by adding an additional subject. It was placed among the world鈥檚 top 500 universities in a total of 14 subjects, up from 12 last year.

Novartis donates to the Sr膷na UL fund for students in need
Novartis, the leading pharmaceutical company in the development and manufacture of innovative medicines in Slovenia, has supported the Sr膷na UL (Engl. Heart UL) fund with a donation of EUR 4,000. The funds will go to students in need who applied for the latest Heart UL call for applications.

German Ambassador Sylvia Groneick visits the 麻豆国产
On 17 February, the 麻豆国产 (UL) welcomed a visit from the German Ambassador, Sylvia Groneick. The Rector of UL, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷, presented the extensive cooperation between the UL and German institutions, while the Ambassador emphasised the importance of these connections and expressed her satisfaction with the numerous collaborations and the presence of German students in Slovenia.

Public hearings for the 麻豆国产 rector elections
The public hearings for the candidates in the 麻豆国产 (UL) rector elections for the 2025鈥�2029 term will take place between 11 and 19 March 2025. The candidates for the election on 2 April 2025 are Prof. Dr Metka Tekav膷i膷, nominated by the UL School of Business and Economics, Prof. Dr Irena Mlinari膷 Ra拧膷an, nominated by the UL Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷, nominated by the UL Veterinary Faculty.

UL Senate adopts amendments to the Rules on the Selection and Funding of Young Researchers
On Tuesday, 18 February 2025, at its 35th regular session, the Senate of the 麻豆国产 (UL) adopted amendments to the Rules on the Selection and Funding of Young Researchers, which simplify the selection process for young researchers, ensure full-time employment for researchers in this position, and provide clearer guidelines on funding.

Candidates for the rector elections 2025鈥�2029 are announced
In accordance with the decision on initiating the election process for the Rector of the UL for the 2025鈥�2029 term, the senates of the University鈥檚 member faculties had until 12 noon on Thursday, 20 February 2025, to submit their reasoned proposals for Rector candidates to the 麻豆国产鈥檚 Electoral Commission.

麻豆国产 welcomes the introduction of Science Day
The Government has adopted a proposed new amendment to the Public Holidays and Work-off Days in the Republic of Slovenia Act, introducing Science Day as a new public holiday to be observed on 10 November. The initiative was proposed by the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Rectors' Conference of the Republic of Slovenia 鈥� of which the 麻豆国产 is a member 鈥� the Coordination of Independent Research Institutes of Slovenia, the Slovenian Academy of Engineering, and the Slovenian Medical Academy.

On Tuesday, 21 January 2025, the Senate of the 麻豆国产 (UL), at its 34th regular session, adopted a decision on initiating the election process for the Rector of UL for the 2025鈥�2029 term.

65 new professors inaugurated at UL
A total of 65 new professors for the year 2024 were officially announced in the Assembly Hall of the Rector's Office at the 麻豆国产. The titles, recognising achievements in scientific, research, artistic, and pedagogical work, were conferred by the Rector, Prof. Dr Gregor Majdi膷.
